Tulum, Quintana Roo — In an effort to improve judicial processes for offenders and reduce crime rates, Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón has met with state government authorities to initiate the harmonization of the Civic Justice system.

Focus on Conciliation and Rehabilitation

Dionisio Ricardo Alarcón, Director of the Civic Court of Tulum, stated that one of the primary objectives of this adaptation is to facilitate peaceful resolutions between complainants and offenders through conciliation agreements. To achieve this, personnel will undergo specialized training in the new model.

Another key aspect of the update involves addressing the root causes of offenses by conducting in-depth case analyses. The goal is to reeducate offenders through multidisciplinary support, thereby reducing recidivism and preventing the escalation of crimes.

Alarcón confirmed that state government officials will oversee training sessions for local staff in the coming months, as well as necessary infrastructure adjustments to implement the new system.

"Society has changed, and we must modernize with this new approach to justice. Mayor Diego Castañón is fully committed, which gives us the support and motivation to contribute wholeheartedly to this transformation," Alarcón concluded.

The initiative marks a significant step in Tulum’s efforts to enhance public safety and judicial efficiency.
