Three Raids in Playa del Carmen and Cancún Net One Detention and Suspected Drugs

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A woman was detained and suspected drugs and paraphernalia were seized during three court-ordered raids on homes in Playa del Carmen and Cancún, part of an investigation into alleged drug dealing.

The searches were carried out on Sunday, September 20, under warrants issued by a judge and involved agents from the State Prosecutor’s Office working with the Mexican Army, the National Guard and the Mexican Navy.

One of the operations targeted a home on Águilas street, at its intersection with Aguilillas, in the Villas del Sol Tercer Parque subdivision of Playa del Carmen. Inside, officers found a solid white substance and another with a crystalline appearance, along with electronic cigarettes and glass pipes.

They also seized synthetic bags containing white powder with characteristics similar to cocaine, and green, dried plant material resembling marijuana. Among the items taken as evidence were packages of rolling papers, pipes and grinders.

A short distance from the property, officers detained María Guadalupe “N,” who was carrying a bag containing dried green plant material and a crystalline substance at the time of her arrest. She was turned over to the appropriate authorities.

A second raid in Playa del Carmen took place at a property on the Faisanes circuit, also in the Villas del Sol subdivision. Officials did not disclose what was found there.

The third warrant was executed in Cancún at a home on Cerrada Ceibal street, at the corner of Lombardo Toledano avenue, in Supermanzana 247, Azul Bonampak subdivision.

After completing the searches, agents placed seals on all three properties to keep them secured while the investigation continues.

The detained woman and the seized evidence were handed over to the ministerial authority, which must determine her legal status within the constitutional deadline. Investigators are working to establish where the substances came from and whether they are linked to drug-dealing activity.
