Cancun, Quintana Roo — The Federal Prosecutor’s Office (FGR) in Quintana Roo has obtained formal charges against three men in two separate firearms cases in Cozumel and Cancun, following investigations initiated by the state prosecutor’s office.
In the first case, state police officers arrested Francisco “N” on Avenida Sur Bis in Cozumel. He was turned over to federal prosecutors along with a firearm, a magazine, and 15 cartridges. After reviewing the evidence, a federal judge ordered him held in pretrial detention at the Benito Juárez prison and set a two-month period for the completion of the supplementary investigation.
Separately in Cancun, state investigative police arrested José “N” and Antony “N” on Calle Centenario. The arrest led to the seizure of two firearms and 11 cartridges. A judge charged José “N” with carrying a firearm without a license and imposed justified pretrial detention. Antony “N” was charged with carrying a firearm and ordered to remain in automatic pretrial detention. Both will stay at the Benito Juárez prison for the two-month investigation period.
