Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The company Terraesmeralda, S.A. de C.V. has submitted the construction project for the “Hotel Terraesmeralda Punta Maroma” to the Environmental Impact Assessment Procedure at the General Directorate of Environmental Impact and Risk (DGIRA) of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat).
The project, with log number 23QR2025T0050, consists of an integral tourism development to be carried out in five phases over a period of 18 years.
The hotel will have 954 hotel keys (682 junior, 108 presidential, and 164 executive), and will be comprised of 10 buildings, a destination spa, an event hall, and public areas such as a gym, sales area, tennis courts, service areas, and eight swimming pools.
Furthermore, the hotel will have sufficient consumption centers for the hotel’s capacity, as well as 802 parking spaces, located at the natural ground level, requiring a change in land use on forested land of 4.7577 hectares, where secondary arboreal vegetation of medium sub-deciduous jungle will be removed, from a total area of 11.8525 hectares across two plots.
The project is called “Hotel Terraesmeralda Punta Maroma” and is located in the Punta Maroma complex, in the municipality of Playa del Carmen, 2.3 km from the Cancún–Tulum highway.
This location will allow relatively direct access to the hotel without significantly affecting the immediate natural surroundings.
According to the promoter, the projected investment for the development of the project amounts to approximately 5 million dollars, destined for hotel infrastructure, equipment, complementary works, and the implementation of sustainable systems.
