José María Morelos, Quintana Roo — A judge has ordered a man to stand trial for attempted femicide after he allegedly attacked a woman with a knife and tried to set her on fire in the town of José María Morelos, Quintana Roo.
The State Prosecutor’s Office announced that Abraham “N” faces charges of attempted femicide for an incident that occurred on February 5, 2025, in the Vicente Guerrero neighborhood.
According to the investigation, the suspect arrived at a residence where the victim was with another person. He allegedly attacked the companion with a sharp object, then doused the woman with gasoline in an attempt to ignite her.
Authorities intervened promptly, launching an immediate investigation. During a court hearing, specialized prosecutors presented sufficient evidence to support the charges against the suspect.
The judge ordered the suspect to stand trial and imposed preventive detention as a precautionary measure, which will remain in effect throughout the judicial proceedings. The victim’s identity remains confidential.
