Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A failure at the Playa del Carmen substation caused a partial power outage Monday morning in the municipalities of Playa del Carmen and Cozumel, affecting multiple areas.

According to preliminary reports, technical crews restored electricity to 96% of affected users within approximately 1 hour and 26 minutes, benefiting more than 274,000 customers.

Distribution and transmission teams continue working at the site to identify the cause of the incident and achieve full restoration of service.

Authorities have not released specific details about the origin of the failure but said technical work remains ongoing to prevent further interruptions.
