Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The body of a taxi driver from Playa del Carmen was discovered early Friday on the Cancun-Puerto Morelos highway, authorities said. The victim had multiple stab wounds and a gunshot wound to the head.
Emergency services received a report around dawn, and municipal officers arriving at the scene found the taxi abandoned on the roadside near the Royalton hotel.
The body was taken to the forensic medical service (Semefo) as the State Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation.
