Mexico City — The FIFA World Cup 2026 opening ceremony will feature a debut performance of the song “Dai Dai” by Shakira and Burna Boy, FIFA announced Thursday.
The ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 11, at the Estadio Ciudad de México, starting at 11:30 a.m. local time. Stadium gates will open four hours early, allowing ticket holders to enjoy pre-match activities and entertainment.
In addition to Shakira and Burna Boy, the lineup includes Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná, and Tyla. They will perform tracks from the tournament’s official album.
“Dai Dai” is one of the official songs of the World Cup and supports the FIFA and Global Citizen Fund for Education, which aims to raise $100 million by the end of the tournament to provide children with access to soccer and quality education.
Shakira will also perform during the halftime show of the final on Sunday, July 19, alongside Madonna and BTS. She is currently on her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour,” with a limited run of U.S. concerts in June and July, followed by 12 shows in Madrid at the specially built Estadio Shakira, which has already sold over 500,000 tickets.
