SEDARPE Begins Delivery of Over 47 Tons of Improved Corn Seed to Boost Agriculture in Quintana Roo

Sacks of improved corn seed being delivered to farmers in Quintana Roo

Chetumal, Quintana Roo — The state Secretariat of Agricultural, Rural and Fisheries Development (SEDARPE) has begun distributing 47,710 kilograms of improved corn seed to more than 1,500 producers across seven municipalities, officials announced.

The initiative is part of the 2026 Agricultural Development Program, aimed at boosting crop yields, strengthening food security, and increasing profitability for rural families.

The improved seed varieties offer better productivity and resistance, helping farmers enhance their harvests and support local economies.

Municipalities Benefiting

The program covers producers in Othón P. Blanco, Bacalar, José María Morelos, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Tulum, Lázaro Cárdenas, and Puerto Morelos.

Distribution follows a regional schedule, with deliveries taking place at ejido community centers, livestock facilities, and other communal spaces.

Distribution Schedule

Deliveries began June 8 and will continue through June 20. Key distribution points include Nicolás Bravo, Álvaro Obregón, Altos de Sevilla, José María Morelos, Dziuché, San Ramón, Santa Rosa, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, San Silverio, Kantunilkín, and Leona Vicario.

SEDARPE urged producers to verify their approval status before heading to distribution sites. Beneficiaries can check their folio numbers via QR codes on official posters or through state government communication channels.

Authorities recommend that recipients arrive on time with the required documentation to streamline the process.
