Golf for Good: Fundación Original’s Charity Tournament

Quintana Roo, Mexico — Fundación Original will host its second annual charity golf tournament on September 20 at the renowned El Tinto golf course, aiming to raise funds for its educational and social support programs in Quintana Roo. The event will bring together players, businesses, and sponsors for a day of competition and philanthropy.

A Gathering for a Cause

The tournament expects 112 local golfers to participate in a dynamic "a gogo" format, combining spirited play with community engagement. Proceeds will directly support Fundación Original’s initiatives, including education, healthcare, and community development. Among its recent projects was the renovation of the Enrique Barocio Library’s recreational classroom in Cancún.

Currently, the foundation provides scholarships to 60 underprivileged high school and university students in Quintana Roo, alongside aiding 450 children from preschool to secondary school.

Prizes and Activities

Participants will compete for luxury prizes, including automobiles, yacht excursions, televisions, golf equipment, and catamaran trips aboard the Albatros, with a total prize pool valued at six million pesos. Additional attractions include raffles, auctions, and a gourmet menu curated by Chef Pablo Lázaro, followed by an awards ceremony honoring the day’s top performers.

Susana de la Peña, representing the organizing committee, encouraged the community to join either as players or donors, emphasizing the event’s role in driving social change.

“In our first edition, we raised 800,000 pesos, and this year we aim to reach 1.5 million pesos,” stated the director of Fundación Original.

Eugenio Saucedo de la Peña, the tournament organizer, detailed the prize distribution, which includes rewards for hole-in-one achievements, precision drives, and special challenges across four par-3 holes.

Ongoing Fundraising Efforts

Beyond the tournament, Fundación Original sustains its mission through events like beach parties, bazaars, and donation drives. Hotels collaborating with the foundation host collection boxes for school supplies, with contributions accepted during guest check-ins.
