Search Underway for Veracruz Woman Missing in Cancun for 9 Days

Veracruz, Veracruz — Lizbeth Bustos Vera, a 43-year-old woman from Veracruz, has been missing for nine days after she was last seen in Cancun, Quintana Roo, on June 16, 2026.

The National Search Commission, the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office, and the state’s Search Commission have issued official search notices and a national alert, urging the public to help locate her.

According to authorities, Bustos Vera disappeared around 10:00 a.m., and her whereabouts remain unknown. Anyone with information can contact the official numbers provided for the case.

Bustos Vera is approximately 1.60 meters (5 feet 3 inches) tall, weighs about 65 kilograms (143 pounds), with a medium build, light skin, light brown eyes, and shoulder-length straight blonde hair. She has a mark inside her left eye and a tattoo on her lower back. The clothing she was wearing at the time of her disappearance is unknown.

Authorities ask the public to share the search notice and report any information to the National Search Commission at 800 028 7783 or via WhatsApp at 55 1309 9024, or to the Quintana Roo Search Commission at 998 336 2579.

Bustos Vera’s disappearance comes amid a nationwide crisis of missing persons. According to the National Registry of Missing and Unlocated Persons, 135,171 people are currently missing in Mexico. Veracruz accounts for 7,278 cases, while Quintana Roo, where Bustos Vera disappeared, has 1,972 cases.
