MERIDA, MX — Agents from the State Investigation Police (PEI) of the Secretary of Public Security (SSP), in coordination with the State Attorney General's Office (FGE), have detained a 46-year-old ride-hailing driver on serious criminal charges.
The apprehension of Joaquín Alberto "N", also known as "Papá Oso", was carried out in compliance with an order issued by a control judge. The judge identified him as the probable perpetrator of the crimes of threats, aggravated assault, aggravated sexual abuse, and illegal deprivation of liberty.
According to the investigation file, the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, September 11, when a 30-year-old woman was attacked in a room at a motel located on the Periférico of Mérida. The accused allegedly entered the room along with other individuals, who proceeded to beat the woman, gag her, and tie her hands and feet.
Subsequently, the victim was attacked with a syringe and sexually assaulted. Before leaving, the detainee allegedly threatened to kill the woman if she did not leave the location.
The investigations conducted by the SSP and the FGE have established the probable responsibility of Joaquín Alberto "N". The suspect, who is originally from Villahermosa, Tabasco, has been turned over to the judge overseeing the case, and his legal status will be determined in the coming days.
