Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Deputy Renán Sánchez Tajonar, president of the Governing Board and Political Coordination Committee (JUGOCOPO) of the 18th Legislature, kicked off the 2026 State Sports, Cultural, and Artistic Games for Basic Education Workers on Thursday at the Bicentennial Unit in Cozumel. He praised the dedication and commitment of Quintana Roo’s teachers to educating new generations.

Speaking before teachers from across the state, Sánchez shared that his commitment to education stems from his family background, as the son of a teacher.

“I grew up seeing what this profession means: the unseen hours, the immeasurable patience, and the dedication with which each student is accompanied. That’s why I speak from gratitude,” Sánchez said.

The lawmaker emphasized that these gatherings strengthen the overall well-being of education workers by promoting coexistence, physical activity, artistic expression, and a sense of community.

“Those who care for our children and youth also deserve to be cared for,” Sánchez stated.

Sánchez also acknowledged the vision and support of Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa and the Secretary of Education of Quintana Roo, Elda Xix Euán, for promoting actions that center on those who make public education possible in the state.

During the event, teachers are participating in sports such as soccer, volleyball, and basketball, as well as cultural and artistic activities including folk dance, painting, singing, and poetry — a celebration of the talent, vocation, and community spirit of Quintana Roo’s teachers.
