Quintana Roo Prepares to Issue Biometric CURP IDs Statewide

Officials in Quintana Roo announce readiness for biometric CURP ID rollout across the state

Othón P. Blanco, Quintana Roo — Quintana Roo is prepared to implement biometric CURP identification cards across the state after completing training for all civil registry staff in its 11 municipalities, officials announced.

Cristina Torres Gómez, the state’s government secretary, said preparation has reached 100 percent, with authorities now awaiting delivery of additional computers and equipment to accelerate the new system’s operation.

She explained that municipalities already have trained personnel and basic equipment, allowing them to begin issuing the documents once the necessary technological infrastructure is in place.

Among the key benefits, Torres Gómez highlighted enhanced mobile services that will facilitate access to the process in communities where such procedures are currently more difficult.

The process will be handled by existing civil registry staff, but will now incorporate biometric data collection, resulting in a more secure document with additional identification elements.
