Quintana Roo, Mexico — The Secretary of Health is conducting fumigations in municipalities and calling on citizens to collaborate in the elimination of breeding grounds for the mosquito that transmits dengue. Following recent rains in the state of Quintana Roo, health authorities have reinforced preventive campaigns to reduce the proliferation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the primary carrier of dengue.
A Coordinated Public Health Response
The vector control team is carrying out nebulization and thermonebulization actions in various residential and public areas, aiming to reduce the hotspots where the insect can incubate and spread.
Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa called on the population to support these tasks by facilitating health personnel's access to homes, opening doors and windows during fumigations, and keeping yards clean. Furthermore, it is recommended to eliminate containers with stagnant water, inspect roofs and patios, and maintain constant hygiene in living spaces—actions deemed fundamental to avoid conditions favorable for mosquito breeding.
With these measures, the authorities in Quintana Roo intend to prevent dengue outbreaks that could particularly affect the most vulnerable sectors, such as children and the elderly, and avoid complications that could put the state's public health at risk. The active participation of the community is essential to build a safer and healthier environment.
