Cancún, Q. Roo — With the prestige of being one of Mexico's cultural and tourist capitals, Quintana Roo has become the host of the 5th National Congress of the Society of Authors and Composers of Mexico (SACM). This gathering brings together distinguished women and men who create the lyrics and melodies that have marked the lives of entire generations both inside and outside the country.

The event, held in Cancún, represents a tribute to the national talent that has transcended borders and has skillfully turned personal stories, experiences, and emotions into universal songs that form part of the collective memory.

A Historic Anniversary: 80 Years of the SACM

The congress coincides with the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the SACM, an institution that has defended and promoted authors' rights in Mexico, establishing itself as a pillar in the protection of composers' creative work. Within this framework, the invaluable contribution of figures who have given life to immortal melodies was recognized, reaffirming the society's commitment to ensuring that music continues to be a cultural engine and a legacy for future generations.

Cancún, Home to the Creators

The choice of Quintana Roo as the host was made possible by the trust placed in it by the SACM's board of directors, headed by Roberto Cantoral and Martín Urieta, who highlighted the region's hospitality and cultural spirit.

"Cancún is your home," expressed the host authorities as they welcomed the authors and composers, reaffirming that this destination is not only a tourist meeting point but also a space where Mexico's artistic expressions are celebrated and strengthened.
