Quintana Roo, home to the Mexican Caribbean, has bolstered its position as a leading tourist destination with over 500 daily flights across its four international airports. The state welcomed over 400,000 tourists this weekend alone, demonstrating its growing popularity among travelers worldwide.
Quintana Roo Governor, Mara Lezama, highlighted the state's ongoing efforts to promote its diverse tourist attractions. She emphasized the shared prosperity resulting from tourism and economic development, stating, "In this new era of tourism in the Mexican Caribbean, we are working to ensure that the benefits of tourism reach everyone, from north to south."
The state's tourism success is a reflection of the inclusive and sustainable growth strategies implemented by Mexico's President, Claudia Sheinbaum. Her administration is focused on ensuring that no one is left behind in the country's economic development.
This weekend marked a historic moment for Quintana Roo as the "Felipe Carrillo Puerto" Tulum International Airport welcomed its one millionth passenger. Despite initial projections from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) estimating 700,000 passengers and 4,500 flights in the airport's first year, these figures have been greatly surpassed. The airport has already facilitated over 7,790 flights and served one million passengers, further solidifying Quintana Roo's status as a premier travel destination.
