Cancún, Quintana Roo — Health authorities in Quintana Roo have launched an intensified vaccination campaign after confirming 31 measles cases across the state, with a goal of administering 336,000 doses over the next 10 weeks.
Officials announced the expanded effort, which has already delivered more than 62,000 vaccines, prioritizing children and individuals aged 13 to 49 who lack complete immunization schedules. The confirmed cases include nine in Benito Juárez municipality, seven in Playa del Carmen, and one in Puerto Morelos, all under epidemiological monitoring.
To increase coverage, health teams will set up mobile vaccination stations in public spaces and conduct special weekend vaccination drives. Authorities emphasized that vaccination services are free and urged residents to report any improper charges.
The urgent call for vaccination completion highlights gaps in previous preventive coverage, with officials acknowledging that emergency campaigns typically activate after outbreaks emerge rather than maintaining sustained prevention measures.
