Carnival 2026 royalty winners in Puerto Morelos

Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — With the goal of preserving traditions and increasing participation of local talents, the Municipal Institute of Culture and Arts held the selection of the Kings and Queens of Carnival 2026, “To the Rhythm of History and Tradition,” this weekend, announced the institute’s director, Adriana Nava Gómez.

She indicated that this contest marks the official start of the carnival season and brings together families, friends, comparsas, and the entire community to celebrate the joy, tradition, and cultural identity that distinguishes Puerto Morelos.

The contest included the participation of candidates in their different categories: Children, Youth, Sexual Diversity, and Sovereign Kings.

The nights of Saturday and Sunday, December 13 and 14, were spectacular to the rhythm of samba, cumbia, and salsa, among feathers and sequins at the Main Park of Leona Vicario and the sports dome of the Zetina Gasca neighborhood, venues of the Gala for the Election of the Queens and Kings of Carnival 2026.

“The Carnival of Puerto Morelos is a tradition that unites us, joy that is inherited, identity that is proudly promoted and we celebrate with enthusiasm,” said Nava Gómez.

The contestants demonstrated great talent in each presentation, which was full of rhythm and coordination with the comparsas that accompanied them, where the invited judges evaluated charm, personality, costume, performance, and carnival identity.

Representing Municipal President Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz were the Secretary of Environment, Animal Welfare, and Sustainable Mobility, Aimee Regina Rodríguez Vivas, as well as the first councilor, Rosario Concha Naal, who in their moment highlighted the response and participation of the people of Puerto Morelos, with unity and healthy coexistence.

After their presentations, judges Patricia de la Rosa and Pedro Gamboa Leal named the Kings of Puerto Morelos, resulting in: Juan Daniel Canseco Vélez and Stephanie Sofía Chacón Ku as Children’s Kings; Karemi Ziovanna Cano Barceló, Youth Queen; Uriel Martínez Reyes, King of Sexual Diversity; and the sovereign kings Víctor Iván Chacón Chim and Indira Guadalupe Chan Farfán.

In Leona Vicario, the contest winners were: Arianna Aketzaly Betancourt Pancardo and Eithan Jaziel Tuz Echeverría, Children’s Kings; Jade Zaiany Pech Gutiérrez and Miguel Orlando Ruiz Uicab, Youth Kings; Diego Andrés Conrado Carrillo, King of Sexual Diversity; while Andrey Iván Pech Uc and Jolette Guadalupe García Esqueda won the scepter of Maximum Kings of this Carnival 2026.

The director of the Municipal Institute of Culture and Arts emphasized that each category represents the inclusion and cultural richness that characterizes the municipality, therefore, there is great support from President Blanca Merari to maintain and strengthen this tradition, to make it a great attraction among residents and visitors.

Present at these events were the delegate of Leona Vicario, Lucelly Benítez; councilors Gonzalo Calderón Poot and Jairo Botes Betancourt, as well as the general coordinator of Cultural Events, César Santiago García.
