The government of Felipe Carrillo Puerto has been in negotiations with local community representatives this week. The aim is to reach an agreement that will end the ongoing blockade at the 'Puerta al Mar' entrance project. Municipal president Mary Hernández Solís revealed that there have already been at least two roundtable discussions, during which various proposals have been presented by the municipal and state governments, as well as the National Defense Ministry (Sedena).

These proposals include investment plans for a new market and the complete rehabilitation of Expo Maya. Hernández Solís explained that the blockade is a protest against several unresolved issues that the community representatives had with the National Defense, prior to this year's election period. The primary issue is the ownership of Expo Maya, a matter which is currently awaiting a judicial resolution.

Both parties have presented their arguments for claiming ownership of the space. The municipal administration has also proposed that ownership be granted to the municipal government. This would allow them to undertake projects for the benefit of the entire community, but this proposal is contingent on the final judicial decision.

In related news, Hernández Solís reported that a student protest at Benito Juarez University in Tihosuco has been successfully resolved and classes have resumed. The government has also secured a meeting with Raquel Sosa, the national coordinator of the Benito Juarez Universities.
