Police Arrest Suspect in Drug Sales at Construction Sites in Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — Authorities arrested a man suspected of selling drugs at construction sites in the Costa Mujeres area, officials announced Monday.

Pablo “N” was taken into custody during a coordinated operation involving the Orion Group of the Public Security Department (SSC), the Mexican Navy (Semar), the Mexican Army (Sedena), and the National Guard. The arrest is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug dealing in Quintana Roo’s tourist destinations.

According to the official report, officers were patrolling on Punta Sam road toward the Ocean Allure Costa Mujeres hotel when they spotted a man handling several transparent plastic bags containing a green plant material resembling marijuana. The incident occurred near the entrance of a hotel in the area.

During a preventive search, authorities seized a backpack containing 58 ziplock bags of dried plant material consistent with marijuana and 46 transparent bags with solid fragments resembling crystal meth. A cell phone was also confiscated and will be included in the investigation.

Pablo “N” was handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Drug Dealing, which will determine his legal status and continue the investigation into his alleged involvement in drug distribution at construction sites in Costa Mujeres.

Authorities said patrols and security operations will continue in the area to prevent illegal activities.
