Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Mayor Estefanía Mercado signed an agreement Wednesday to donate land for the construction of a new campus of the CBTIS (Centro de Bachillerato Tecnológico Industrial y de Servicios) technical high school, to be built at the intersection of Avenida Constituyentes and Loros Street.
Mercado said the project represents a concrete opportunity to expand access to upper secondary education in the municipality, allowing more young people to continue their studies without leaving the city.
“This is not just land, it is a real opportunity for more young people to study, prepare, and build their future,” she said.
The mayor thanked Governor Mara Lezama and President Claudia Sheinbaum for their support in promoting initiatives for the youth of Playa del Carmen.
Mercado also announced that additional educational projects for Puerto Aventuras will be unveiled soon, including the construction of a Colegio de Bachilleres campus.
