Armed Attack on Mototaxi Driver Sparks Police Response in Cancun

Cancun, Quintana Roo — A mototaxi driver was shot in an armed attack Tuesday, triggering a large-scale police response in the area.

According to preliminary reports, armed individuals intercepted the driver while he was in his vehicle and opened fire before fleeing in an unknown direction. The attack occurred on a public street, alarming nearby residents and witnesses.

Paramedics arrived at the scene after an emergency call and provided first aid to the injured man, who was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation. Officials have not yet released an update on his condition.

Municipal police and other agencies cordoned off the area to conduct investigations, while state prosecutors launched an inquiry to determine the motive and identify those responsible.
