Playa del Carmen Firefighters Contain Blaze Along Federal Highway

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Firefighters from Playa del Carmen’s Civil Protection Department extinguished a fire that burned approximately 2.4 hectares along Federal Highway at kilometer 276.

The firefighters worked for several hours to control and extinguish the blaze, with support from personnel from local companies. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

As the wildfire season begins, the Civil Protection, Risk Prevention and Fire Department maintains personnel, equipment and operational capacity ready to respond to any emergency. Officials urge the public to avoid actions that could start fires.

The department recommends that residents avoid burning trash or vegetation, refrain from discarding cigarette butts in areas with dry grass, and immediately report any signs of fire to the 911 emergency number to prevent the spread of flames and protect the community and natural environment.
