Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The municipal government has expanded its school safety initiative, Operativo Borrador, with a new operation at a local secondary school aimed at preventing crime and protecting minors.

On Friday, officials visited the Escuela Secundaria Técnica Número 33 “Vicente Guerrero” as part of the program, which coordinates security, justice, and social welfare agencies to create safer environments for students.

The operation involved officers from the Community Policing and Crime Prevention Department, the GEAVIG special unit, the K9 unit, and traffic police, along with staff from the DIF (Integral Family Development) system and the State Prosecutor’s Office. Together, they offered preventive guidance and support to students, teachers, and parents.

Mayor Estefanía Mercado and Public Security Secretary Carlos Montesinos García are leading the strategy, which aims to reduce risk factors and promote a culture of prevention both on and off school grounds.
