Playa del Carmen city council members during a session

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Playa del Carmen City Council, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, has declared the Xaman-Há City Theater as the temporary official venue for the Sixth Public and Solemn Session commemorating the 33rd anniversary of the municipality’s creation on July 28.

The theater, located in the Ejido neighborhood, will host the commemorative session to honor the municipality’s founding and reaffirm the local government’s commitment to the development and identity of Playa del Carmen.

During the 44th ordinary session, the council also approved the formation of a Courtesy Commission responsible for receiving the heads of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches during the solemn session. The commission includes council members Danna Felisa Ramírez Saldaña, Anaiza Quian Medina, Josefina Muza Simón, Fernando Muñoz Calero, and Saúl Barbosa Heredia.

In the same session, council members approved naming the municipal public space at Cruz de Servicios, on Paseo Central Avenue at the corner of Xpuha Street near Plaza Las Américas, as “Parque del Maestro” (Teacher’s Park). The designation recognizes the contributions of teachers to educating generations of residents and to the municipality’s social development, while strengthening the identity of public spaces.
