Cancún, Quintana Roo — Authorities seized more than 100 buckets containing suspected marijuana during two raids led by the State Prosecutor’s Office in two irregular settlements in Cancún, officials announced Friday.
In the first operation, agents searched a home in the San Alfredo neighborhood, located in the city’s Región 201, where they found doses of dried herb and small wrappers of suspected crystal meth.
A second team raided a house in El Pedregal, about two kilometers from José López Portillo Avenue. Inside, they discovered boxes containing bagged doses of dried herb and crystal meth, along with more than 100 bucket-type containers filled with dried herb. According to initial investigations, the marijuana had not yet been prepared for distribution.
After completing the searches, both properties were secured and turned over to the State Prosecutor’s Office. All evidence was handed over to the Public Ministry for further investigation. Authorities are looking into whether the two locations were part of a single drug distribution network operating in Cancún’s irregular settlements.
