Tulum, Quintana Roo — The Regional Museum of the East Coast (Mureco) in Tulum is preparing to host its inaugural music festival, titled "Cielo, mar y tierra. Festejemos la naturaleza" ("Sky, Sea, and Land: Let’s Celebrate Nature"), on June 21, 2025. The event, organized by Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), aims to strengthen the connection between culture, art, and ecological awareness in Quintana Roo, coinciding with World Environment Day and World Oceans Day.

A Celebration of Nature and Culture

The festival will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the conference "Conservation of Sharks in the Mexican Caribbean," led by Pamela Vázquez Márquez, director of the civil association Saving our Sharks. Vázquez will highlight the importance of sharks for marine biodiversity.

Following the lecture, the folkloric ballet Paraíso Maya Danzarte will perform traditional Mayan-inspired dances, including the regional vaquería dance.

The program will continue with the presentation "Understanding Biodiversity," delivered by Rocío Peralta, a member of the civil association Biodiversidad y Cultura Ambiental Tulum. The talk will address living organisms, their interactions, and the current status of endangered species.

The evening will feature live music by Té con Té, a son jarocho group from Cosoleacaque, Veracruz, known for its traditional rhythms. The festival will conclude at 9:00 p.m. with a salsa performance by the musical ensemble Guayaband.

Event Logistics and Accessibility

All activities will take place in the Sala Kaab, located in the former naval air base within Parque del Jaguar, on Yalku Street between Tahmul and Tulum in Tulum, Quintana Roo.

While INAH is offering free admission to the festival, Parque del Jaguar maintains its own access fees. However, Tulum residents will be exempt from these charges upon presenting official identification (INE).

Commitment to Conservation and Heritage

Through this initiative, Mureco reaffirms its dedication to preserving Quintana Roo’s natural and cultural heritage, one of Mexico’s most biodiverse and historically rich regions. The festival serves as an invitation to reflect on the importance of safeguarding both cultural legacy and the environment while advocating for a sustainable future.

Mureco continues to establish itself as a gathering space where historical heritage and natural wealth coexist in harmony.
