Mototaxi Overturns in Playa del Carmen Crash; Passenger Injured

A mototaxi lies overturned on Avenida CTM in Playa del Carmen after being hit by a truck

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A passenger was injured Sunday afternoon when a mototaxi overturned after being struck by a truck on Avenida CTM, near the access to Avenida De las Garzas.

According to initial reports, the truck driver attempted to merge from the median onto De las Garzas without stopping, hitting the side of mototaxi No. 118, operated by the Pochi Tortuga group, which was traveling eastbound on CTM.

The impact flipped the mototaxi, throwing the passenger from the vehicle and leaving her underneath it. Paramedics treated her at the scene and then took her to a hospital for evaluation.

Because those involved could not reach an agreement, both vehicles were seized and taken to an impound lot. Traffic authorities conducted an investigation to determine responsibility.
