Cancún, Mexico — A motorcyclist lost his life in the early hours of Wednesday after suffering a serious accident on Kabah Avenue, near Supermanzana 221, in the hours leading up to Christmas Eve celebrations.

The incident occurred around 5 a.m., when drivers passing through the area and local residents reported to emergency number 911 the presence of an unconscious person on the central median, at the intersection of Kabah Avenue and 20 de Noviembre Avenue.

Paramedics from the Red Cross arrived at the site following activation by the C5 command center; however, upon medical assessment, they confirmed that the motorcyclist no longer showed vital signs.

Preliminarily, it was indicated that the death was likely caused by a severe blow to the head, in addition to various injuries to the arms and legs.

Upon confirmation of the death, Municipal Police officers cordoned off the area to preserve the scene and diverted traffic toward the city center, causing partial disruptions for several hours.

According to accounts gathered at the scene, the motorcyclist was riding a blue Italika motorcycle, license plate 18USB1, on Kabah Avenue heading from 20 de Noviembre Avenue toward Niños Héroes, when alleged excessive speed caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

The motorcycle collided with the central median, causing the driver to be thrown several meters, while the vehicle continued sliding approximately ten more meters on the asphalt.

The victim remains unidentified. As distinguishing features, authorities reported that the motorcycle carried a keychain with a dinosaur figure and a Catholic-style rosary.

Personnel from the Forensic Services of the State Attorney General’s Office, in coordination with agents from the Investigative Police, collected evidence at the site and ordered the transfer of the body to the Forensic Medical Service, where a legal autopsy will be performed, and it will await official identification.
