Missing Man Found Alive in Bacalar After Two-Day Search

Sem Olayo Lira, a man from Puebla, was found alive in Bacalar, Quintana Roo, after disappearing on April 23.

Bacalar, Quintana Roo — Sem Olayo Lira, a man originally from Puebla who was reported missing in Bacalar, has been found alive after nearly two days, his partner confirmed on social media.

Mariana announced in a digital post that Olayo Lira was safe and in good condition, ending the uncertainty that had mounted since his disappearance. She thanked those who shared the information and the State Prosecutor’s Office for their involvement in the search.

The disappearance occurred on April 23 in the community of Buenavista. According to his partner’s earlier account, they were on a phone call when Olayo Lira’s behavior suddenly changed, showing signs of concern. He repeatedly asked “Who? Who?” in response to an unknown person’s presence, then said someone had entered the home and he could not continue talking. The call ended abruptly.

Hours later, neighbors reported the door of the home was open, prompting relatives to check the property. Inside, they found objects out of place, signs of disorder, and one of the sneakers Olayo Lira was believed to be wearing the day he disappeared, heightening concerns.

Witnesses also reported a white pickup truck leaving the scene at high speed, reinforcing the initial hypothesis of a possible kidnapping.

Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances of Olayo Lira’s discovery or whether he returned on his own or was located through a search operation. Officials are expected to provide further details as the investigation continues.
