Merida, Yucatan — A recent surge in reports of missing children and adolescents has prompted authorities in Yucatan to activate multiple search protocols, reigniting public concern over the recurring issue.

In the past week, state officials have issued several alerts to expedite the location of minors whose whereabouts are unknown. Missing persons bulletins have been circulated for children and teenagers last seen in municipalities including Merida and Kanasin.

According to official information, such alerts are activated when there is a real risk to the safety of minors, triggering a coordinated response from various agencies to locate them quickly.

Although Yucatan does not have as many cases as other Mexican states, experts and advocacy groups warn that each case deeply impacts families and highlights gaps in prevention and institutional response. Recent reports indicate that dozens of missing persons cases remain open in the state, including those involving minors.

The recurrence of cases in a short period has heightened social anxiety, reflecting a problem that, while intermittent, has not been eradicated and continues to leave unresolved stories.

Authorities have reiterated their call for the public to provide any information that could help locate the missing children, as investigations into each case continue.
