Mexico City — The Secretariat of Economy (SE) has awarded the "Hecho en México" (Made in Mexico) certification to 16 tequila companies. This distinction recognizes products manufactured under the highest quality standards and is intended to strengthen the brands' positioning.

In this first stage, the tequila industry accumulated more than 86 certificates, taking into account both the corporate entities and the different brands each company produces. The presentation was carried out in coordination with the Consejo Regulador del Tequila (CRT), with the objective of having 100% of producers access the recognition in the coming years.

A Federal Priority

During the ceremony, Alberto Uribe Camacho, Director General of National Content for the SE, highlighted that the "Hecho en México" program is a priority for the Federal Government. He underscored that it seeks to strengthen national value chains in the face of the trade deficit with regions like Asia.

"We must bet much more on national companies and local value chains. This distinction generates confidence in Mexican products and improves their perception in international markets," Uribe stated.

The companies that obtained the distinction in this first stage are:

  • Agroindustrias de Guadalajara
  • Casa Tequilera Alma de México
  • Casa Tequilera de Arandas
  • Destiladora de Agave Azul
  • Destiladora del Valle de Tequila

All agreed that the certification represents a direct benefit for the tequila production chain, one of Mexico's most emblematic beverages.

The Secretariat of Economy and the Consejo Regulador del Tequila reiterated their commitment to extend this recognition to the rest of the producers, thereby consolidating trust in the "Hecho en México" label as a synonym for quality and national pride.
