Mexico’s Gasoline Price to Stay Below 24 Pesos in 2026

Mexico City, Mexico — The Mexican government has announced that the price of regular gasoline will not exceed 24 pesos per liter in 2026, despite the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) due to inflation.

Through a statement, the Secretariats of Finance and Energy affirmed that the price of regular gasoline remains stable, so no increases are anticipated at the beginning of 2026.

Finance Ensures Regular Gasoline Price Will Not Exceed 24 Pesos Per Liter in 2026

The price of regular gasoline will remain stable in 2026 thanks to the national strategy implemented by the Mexican government since March 2025.

Despite the IEPS that will take effect in 2026, the price of gasoline will not exceed 24 pesos per liter in 2026 thanks to the coordinated agreement between:

  • Secretariat of Energy
  • Secretariat of Finance
  • Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources
  • National Energy Commission
  • Tax Administration Service
  • Federal Consumer Protection Agency
  • National Industrial Safety Agency
  • Pemex

According to the information, the Strategy to Stabilize the Price of Gasoline was a voluntary pact between oil industry business leaders and authorities of the Mexican government.
