Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The Mexican Navy, through the Navy of Mexico and via the Fifth Naval Region, has issued a report on the actions undertaken in the search and location of the vessel Regal 33 OBX with two crew members aboard, due to a reported delay in its arrival. It is known that the vessel departed from Key West, Florida, United States, bound for Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo.

It is noted that upon learning of the overdue arrival of the aforementioned vessel, crewed by Jorge Aragón and Ricardo Argáez, on August 22, various operations were immediately executed with the purpose of searching for and locating the vessel and its crew.

The report highlights that search efforts were coordinated with the United States Coast Guard (U.S. Coast Guard) to combine resources in locating the two crew members.

Furthermore, this Naval Command deployed an Interceptor Patrol vessel that is conducting search patterns, in coordination with a Defender-type boat with specialized personnel aboard, belonging to the Isla Mujeres Maritime Search, Rescue, and Surveillance Station (ENSAR).

Similarly, in a combined effort, an aircraft equipped with specialized technology has been incorporated into the operation. This aircraft has maintained continuous overflights to reinforce the location efforts.

It is emphasized that coordination is also underway with the Government of Cuba in order to conduct overflights in its Exclusive Economic Zone, given the possibility that the vessel may have entered those waters.

The Mexican Navy reiterates its absolute commitment to the protection of human life at sea and thanks the community for its trust and support during these times. United and with perseverance, it will continue to employ all available resources until the objective is achieved.
