Sisal, Yucatan — Naval personnel discovered a sea turtle nest during beach patrols near Sisal, Yucatan, as part of the Navy’s Operation Lifeguard “Summer 2026.”
Lifeguards from the Ninth Naval Zone spotted the nest while patrolling the shoreline, the Secretariat of the Navy said. The eggs were turned over to the Aak Kuxtal turtle camp in Sisal, where they will be protected until the hatchlings are ready for release.
The Ninth Naval Zone said it can be reached for emergencies at 999-960-0682, and the Navy’s national hotline is 800 627 4621 (800 MARINA1).
