Cozumel, Mexico — Mexican athletes Cecilia Pérez and Rodrigo González made history by conquering the Ironman 70.3 Cozumel, solidifying the island's status as an epicenter for international sports tourism. The event attracted the attention of more than 2,500 athletes from 59 countries.

Governor Mara Lezama emphasized that this event promotes sustainable tourism and places Cozumel in the global spotlight. The Chankanaab Natural Park hosted the competition, which included a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km cycling segment, and a 21.1 km run, reaffirming the event's level of exigency and prestige.
