Playa del Carmen, Mexico — A man was transported by ambulance to the General Hospital after being seriously injured when he was run over by a pickup truck while attempting to cross Playa del Carmen Boulevard without caution, at the height of the Ejido neighborhood.
The Accident Occurred at the Height of 11th South Avenue
The incident was recorded around 9:30 in the morning, when motorists requested ambulance support through the emergency number, after a pedestrian was run over at the height of 11th South Avenue, in front of the Chevrolet dealership.
According to initial reports, the vehicle involved was a pickup truck belonging to the Xplor park, whose driver was traveling southbound.
After descending from the boulevard bridge, the man reportedly crossed suddenly, preventing the driver from braking in time.
Traffic Was Closed to Provide Efficient Attention
Given the severity of the injuries, authorities closed the bridge at the height of Juárez Avenue to expedite pre-hospital care, diverting vehicular traffic to the side lane.
The injured man was transported to the General Hospital with little chance of survival and remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit. Meanwhile, the pickup truck was towed with a crane and the driver was secured while the corresponding investigations are carried out to determine responsibilities.
