Tulum, Quintana Roo — A man has been formally charged and ordered held in pre-trial detention for allegedly committing aggravated extortion in Tulum, the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office announced.
The suspect, identified as Adán Israel “N,” is accused of participating in an incident on April 7 at a residence on Calle 1 in the Andrés Manuel López Obrador neighborhood. According to official reports, he arrived at the location with another person and threatened the victim, demanding they vacate the home within one hour.
During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly identified himself as a member of a criminal group and displayed a firearm he was carrying at his waist, using it to intimidate the victim. He warned that if the demand was not met, he would target the victim’s life and those of their family members.
After issuing the threats, the individual left the scene but fired two shots at the property before fleeing in a vehicle with his accomplice.
Following a complaint, police investigators executed an arrest warrant against the suspect. In a court hearing, a judge ordered him formally charged with aggravated extortion and imposed pre-trial detention for the duration of the legal proceedings.
