Cancún, Quintana Roo — A judge in Cancún has ordered a trial for a suspected drug dealer accused of involvement in a forced disappearance, authorities announced.
The suspect, identified as Evodio “N,” known by the alias “Evo,” faces charges for his alleged role in the disappearance of a person. A judge ruled to proceed with the case and imposed pretrial detention after security forces from federal, state, and local agencies arrested him.
Investigations by authorities suggest the case is linked to small-scale drug trafficking activities in various parts of the city, including the last known location of the victim. The victim, identified as Saúl “N,” was last seen at a motorcycle repair shop in the Las Guayas neighborhood, which officials report functioned as a marijuana distribution point.
According to police reports, the victim was seen socializing with the detained suspect and at least two other individuals at the shop. Witness accounts indicate the victim was forced onto a motorcycle against his will, after which the group left the location with an unknown destination. The victim’s whereabouts remain unknown.
Authorities are exploring lines of investigation that suggest the incident may be connected to conflicts between groups involved in small-scale drug sales, a source of ongoing disputes in several Cancún neighborhoods. Additionally, Evodio “N” is allegedly part of a criminal cell operating in the Villas del Mar Plus subdivision, where he is linked to drug distribution.
Officials added that they are also investigating his possible involvement in motorcycle thefts at city shopping centers. Authorities continue to gather evidence and testimonies to determine if more people are involved in the case, while operations proceed to locate the victim and assign responsibilities.
