Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The Isla Mujeres Government, led by Municipal President Atenea Gómez Ricalde, continues to make significant progress on the construction of Mirador Mar Turquesa, a priority project that emerged from the firm defense of the Garrafón right-of-way, a space that is and will continue to belong to the island’s residents.
Since the beginning of the municipal administration, a clear and determined stance has been maintained to protect this emblematic site, prioritizing the collective interest above all else.
This public space belongs to the people of Isla Mujeres and is now preserved as an open, accessible area intended for the enjoyment of island families.
It is a project that represents an act of social justice and a direct response to the will of the island community that for years has defended this view and this space as part of its identity and daily life.
With this project, the Isla Mujeres Government creates a dignified, safe, and organized space where island families will have a place to socialize, walk, and enjoy the unparalleled view of the Caribbean Sea, while also improving mobility and safety for pedestrians and visitors.
The Mirador Mar Turquesa will be integrated into the municipality’s tourist corridor along with other emblematic spaces.
The Isla Mujeres Government reaffirms that when political will is combined with the support of the people, citizens’ rights are defended and spaces are created for island residents to enjoy what legitimately belongs to them, as is now happening with the Garrafón viewpoint right-of-way.
