Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — In an atmosphere of identity and tradition, the Pueblo Mágico of Isla Mujeres enthusiastically celebrated the traditional descent of the Virgin and her subsequent procession, marking the beginning of the Patronal Festivities in honor of the Virgin of the Assumption. The event, held as part of the 2025 Founding Festivities of Isla Mujeres, brought together local families and visitors who accompanied the image through the town center, starting from the Municipal Plaza, in a display of respect and affection for the island’s cultural roots.
A Celebration of Heritage and Community
Following the procession, the festivities continued with a colorful artistic program at the plaza, featuring folk dance performances by the children’s workshop Alma Caribeña and the groups Tumben Ka and Tumben Kin. These performances proudly showcased the region’s artistic and cultural expressions.
