Hospiten Talks: Experts Share Guide to Prevent Injuries and Improve Nutrition in Cancun

Experts speaking at Hospiten Talks event in Cancun about injury prevention and nutrition

Cancun, Quintana Roo — Hospiten held a new edition of its “Hospiten Talks” series, dedicated to holistic wellness and conscious nutrition, aiming to promote healthy habits and prevent long-term sports injuries.

Nathan Avalos, a sports nutrition expert, emphasized that health is not just about longevity but maintaining a functional body. “Prevention starts with small daily actions,” he said, noting that the region’s fitness boom must be accompanied by technical knowledge.

Key Pillars for an Injury-Free Body

To avoid physical wear and tear, specialists highlighted four fundamental pillars:

  • Real Food: Prioritize natural proteins (beef, chicken, fish) and avoid ultra-processed foods that hinder muscle building.
  • Movement in the Office: Stretch every 20 minutes to counteract a sedentary lifestyle.
  • Dynamic Warm-Up: Prepare joints and muscles before any routine.
  • Sleep Hygiene: Rest is the only time the body regenerates after exertion.

Dr. Juan de Dios Velasco, a joint surgery specialist at Hospiten Cancun, explained that the body operates as a system of levers. Poor posture or accumulated stress overloads these structures, leading to chronic injuries. “The goal is to maintain quality of life with a functional body,” the orthopedist concluded.
