Police and forensic investigators at the scene of a shooting in Cancun's Paseo Kusamil neighborhood

Cancun, Quintana Roo — Gunmen shot and killed a couple outside a residential building in Cancun’s Paseo Kusamil neighborhood on Thursday night, marking the second such attack on a couple in the city in less than a week.

According to reports, the victims were standing outside buildings on Anís private street when attackers, reportedly on a motorcycle, opened fire multiple times before fleeing the scene.

Neighbors alerted emergency services around 8 p.m., prompting a security operation. Paramedics confirmed both individuals showed no vital signs upon arrival.

Investigators found multiple spent shell casings at the scene. Authorities launched a search operation and are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the perpetrators.

The victims have not yet been identified, and the motive for the attack remains unknown.

Forensic experts transported the bodies to the medical examiner’s office for autopsies as required by law.

This incident follows another couple’s killing on Tuesday in the Tres Reyes neighborhood’s third section, near the Mérida-Cancún highway bypass.
