Mexico City, Mexico — Grupo Mundo Maya, a rebranded entity formerly known as Gafsacomm, has officially launched under the operational management of Mexico’s Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA). The organization, which was originally established on April 13, 2022, following its publication in the Diario Oficial de la Federación, is now undergoing a strategic renewal to strengthen its national and commercial identity.
Mission and Vision of Grupo Mundo Maya
According to a statement released by the group, Grupo Mundo Maya’s mission is to administer, control, and operate airports, museums, hotels, and the Tren Maya project as a para-state entity. Its broader objective is to contribute to national development by implementing economic strategies and policies while promoting the natural, historical, and cultural wealth of southeastern Mexico.
Tonatiuh Velasco, the group’s director general, emphasized that the rebranding aims to project a stronger and more representative image. "The birth of Grupo Mundo Maya reaffirms our mission and presents a clear, unified brand to the world," Velasco stated.

Despite the name change, Grupo Mundo Maya confirmed that its core operations remain unchanged. The group continues to manage the following key assets:

Additionally, Grupo Mundo Maya oversees 12 airports across Mexico, including the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA).
Promotional Offers
To mark its relaunch, Grupo Mundo Maya is offering discounts ranging from 15% to 25% on hotel bookings, along with a complimentary welcome cocktail for stays between May 31 and June 2, 2025.
The rebranding is described as a strategic move to consolidate the group’s identity and enhance its commercial and tourism appeal, reinforcing its role in Mexico’s economic and cultural development.
