Tulum, Quintana Roo — A foreign tourist child who went missing on Friday afternoon while walking with his family along Tulum’s coastal zone was located safe and sound following a search operation implemented by municipal authorities.
According to official information, the child became separated from his relatives while they were walking along the beach, which immediately activated a coordinated deployment between Public Security, Civil Protection, and Fire Department personnel.
The report generated an urgent mobilization at various points along the coastal strip, where tourism personnel and service providers also joined the search.
Hours later, the minor was found walking near the Zigi Hotel, where workers from the establishment took him into preventive custody and notified authorities. Civil Protection personnel and police officers arrived at the location and confirmed that the child was in good physical condition and had not suffered any harm.
Rafael Domínguez Villanueva, general director of Civil Protection and Firefighters, detailed that timely intervention kept the minor safe while the corresponding procedures were carried out. He added that personnel from the Public Security Secretariat, led by Edgar Aguilar Rico, were responsible for securing the minor and coordinating his transfer to reunite him with his family.
Once his health status was verified, the minor was handed over to his parents, who were able to continue their vacation in Tulum. Domínguez Villanueva highlighted the importance of collaboration between authorities and the tourism sector to address this type of emergency quickly and effectively, emphasizing that prompt coordination prevented the incident from escalating.
