Five Suspected Drug Dealers Arrested in Playa del Carmen, Ordered to Remain in Custody
Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Five people, including three men and two women, have been formally charged with drug dealing offenses after prosecutors presented evidence to a judge, the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office announced.
The suspects — identified as Jhonatan “N”, Jorge David “N”, María José “N”, Giessy Palestina “N”, and Antonio “N” — were arrested by state investigative police during a search warrant execution at a property on Calle 42 between Avenidas 20 Norte and 15 Norte in the Zazil-Há neighborhood.
According to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Drug Dealing Crimes, the five individuals were found in possession of multiple doses of substances resembling methamphetamine, marijuana, and cocaine at the time of their arrest.
During the hearing, the public prosecutor presented evidence that the judge deemed sufficient to initiate criminal proceedings for drug possession with intent to distribute. The judge ordered pretrial detention for all five defendants for the duration of the trial.
