Quintana Roo / Crime
Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Five men were charged and sent to preventive prison for their alleged involvement in crimes against health, specifically drug trafficking, following rulings issued by Control judges in the municipality of Playa del Carmen, the State Attorney General’s Office reported.
According to the ministerial authority, the charges were obtained in separate hearings and stem from arrests in flagrante delicto carried out during coordinated operations between state and federal forces.
These operations involved personnel from the Investigation Police, the Secretariat of the Navy, and municipal security corporations.
In one case, Vicente Alejandro “N”, Diego Armando “N”, Luis Ángel “N”, and Ernesto “N” were detained and placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office after being found with various doses of cannabis sativa.
After analyzing the evidence presented by the Attorney General’s Office, the Control judges determined to charge Vicente Alejandro “N” and Diego Armando “N” with the crime of possession with intent to supply, while Luis Ángel “N” and Ernesto “N” will face criminal proceedings for simple possession of narcotics.
In a separate incident, Rogelio Alberto “N” was arrested in flagrante delicto in the irregular In House neighborhood, where authorities seized cannabis sativa and cocaine from him.
Following the corresponding initial hearing, the judicial body resolved to charge him, considering the probable commission of the crime of simple possession of narcotics to be established.
In both cases, the judicial authority imposed justified preventive prison as a precautionary measure, estimating that there are sufficient elements to guarantee the development of the criminal proceedings.
This measure will remain in effect throughout the duration of the ongoing judicial procedures.
