Popular influencer Luisito Comunica recently took to social media to share his experience with an overpriced taxi service from Cancun International Airport. In an Instagram reel, he revealed that he was charged 2,000 pesos for a journey that lasted only around 20 minutes. He viewed this as an extreme overcharge and an abuse of service.
Luisito clarified that his complaint was not aimed at the individual taxi driver, but rather at the management or those in charge of the taxi concessions. He suggested that with such high charges, a taxi driver could potentially earn more than 200,000 pesos per month. He also hinted at the possibility of organized crime being involved in such practices.
The influencer went on to criticize the taxi company for not only implementing these high charges but also encouraging passengers to tip their drivers. “After charging you 2,000 pesos, they still have the audacity to ask for a tip for their drivers… They’re like thieves!”, he stated.
In another Instagram reel, Luisito reported that the taxi service also requires passengers to pay in cash, without providing any kind of receipt for the service. He ended his post by asking his followers if they thought this situation was normal.
