Fire at SAT Office in Cancun Prompts Evacuation of Over 340 People
Cancun, Quintana Roo — A fire broke out Monday at the Tax Administration Service (SAT) office in Cancun, prompting the evacuation of 342 people from the building. No injuries were reported.
The fire started around 12:30 p.m. on the third floor, originating from a main electrical panel, according to preliminary reports. Civil Protection personnel responded after receiving a 911 alert.
Authorities said the quick response by emergency services ensured a safe evacuation and allowed firefighters to control the blaze. The building, located in Plaza Vivendi in the SM 8 district, will remain closed for the rest of the day.
Inspections are underway to ensure the structure is safe before normal operations resume in the coming days.
All appointments scheduled for Monday were canceled. Officials said there will be no penalties for missed appointments, and users can reschedule through the SATQ website or wait for automatic rescheduling updates.
